Hmmm...We will see how the next couple of days go for her. She is finally back at school. How her behavior is at school is often a good indicator of how she is REALLY doing.Meganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14386058494236428900noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4872069763804945028.post-52952649835327519442010-02-21T20:42:29.054-05:002010-02-21T20:42:29.054-05:00Lamictal made my son manic within 3 days of starti...Lamictal made my son manic within 3 days of starting it. It has an activating quality which is is why it is used as an antidepressant. I have an adult friend on it and she actually likes it for the activating quality it has on her.Meghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02896189499897119912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4872069763804945028.post-46610047310705576652010-02-21T19:01:18.692-05:002010-02-21T19:01:18.692-05:00I am glad that Caroline is a little more comfortab...I am glad that Caroline is a little more comfortable at least at the point of the last email. Daughter Linea and I have been on the circuit presenting at conferences. We had a long midnight chat in bed in our hotel room a couple of nights ago. She talked about her fears of meds over the long run and was so articulate about her dignosis that it was all I could do not to cry. Instead I said things to acknowledge her feelings and try to normalize it and assure her as best I could. Ohhhh, our babies! Sometimes it is just "not fair" but 99% of the time I feel so lucky given I am privy to lives that are much, much worse off than ours. As usual, take care of you!Cindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16094311567888874509noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4872069763804945028.post-21096129344177994332010-02-20T20:58:32.398-05:002010-02-20T20:58:32.398-05:00Hi Megan,

You might want to check out my blog at juniajuliajulie.blogspot.com I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner and see a lot of children. My blog is called Christian, Mom, and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I hope it was not the Lamictal that caused the mania in your daughter but it has been known to do that. Its my favorite mood stabilizer. If it was that then hopefully it was transient. I am on a professional psychiatric pharmacology listserve and lamictal causing mania or being activating has been discussed several times but I think its extremely rare. Best wishes to you and your family,<br />JulieAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
